Description
Waterfowl Census is an app of SEO/Birdlife that allows standardize and systematize the censuses of waterfowl in Spain via a form that can be filled from the smartphone or from the website and that includes, for example, the species and number of individuals observed, weather conditions, etc. It can also upload photographs (is necessary open an account in advance ). Although the Android’s description ensures that the application provides information about the nearest wetlands to the user’s location, it has not found any option that offers this kind of information. For some of the wet areas of historical photographs and census data available at the different administrations are included and those collected by volunteers and employees of SEO / Birdlife.

Analysis
As SEO/BirdLife mentions on the website of the project, the objective is resume the work initiated by many autonomous communities, that began to do this work with its own staff. To do this, the organization is supported by citizen science, involving to partners and collaborators in data collection through mobile applications, one of the dynamics that most force is gaining in recent times. The information gathered is key to the adoption of protection and appropiate conservation policies. As for the application itself, it would be interesting include the delineation of wetlands because the cartographic information available is limited to the location of the wetland in Google Maps, that in many cases it is not clear either. Unless its use is combined with other guides, it is an application designed for users with expertise in identification of waterfowl.
